2019: η χρονιά της ωριμότητας!
Κάπως έτσι θα την αποκαλούσαμε κι αυτό για δύο λόγους. Ο πρώτος, ο βασικός λόγος που γράφονται αυτές οι γραμμές, έχει να κάνει με την κορυφαία εικοσάδα των δίσκων που ξεχωρίσαμε για φέτος, όπου συναντάμε την ωρίμανση της δουλειάς που επιδεικνύουν ονόματα, τα οποία ακολουθούμε τα τελευταία χρόνια. Δεν είναι μόνο η κορυφαία πεντάδα, που χαρακτηριστικά διαθέτει, αν όχι τους καλύτερους, σίγουρα, όμως, τους πιο μεστούς δίσκους που έχουν βγάλει οι συγκεκριμένοι καλλιτέχνες, αλλά και ορισμένοι από τους υπόλοιπους, ακόμη και άλλ@ που οι δίσκοι τους δεν κατάφεραν να μπουν τελικά στην παρακάτω λίστα.
Ο δεύτερος λόγος, που υποστηρίζει τον τίτλο του κειμένου, είναι η πορεία της ίδιας της ομάδας μας καθόλη τη διάρκεια του έτους αυτού. Μέσα από διάφορα κύματα αλλαγών στη σύνθεση της και την εμφανή συρρίκνωση της επήλθαν αλλαγές ως προς την στοχοθεσία μας. Ερωτήματα πάνω στις μεταβολές του τρόπου και του χρόνου, που ακούμε σήμερα μουσική, μας ώθησαν να δούμε αλλιώς το ίδιο το ats και να ξεκινήσουμε μια προσπάθεια εκσυγχρονισμού του. Ήδη, γράφουμε πιο σύντομα κείμενα με γνώμονα την ανάδειξη δημιουργιών, που όχι απλώς μας αρέσουν, αλλά κυρίως που έχουν να προσφέρουν κάτι καινούργιο στα αυτιά των άλλων και πρωτίστως στα δικά μας. Δεν είναι, εξάλλου, τυχαίο ότι σε μια χρονιά, που παράξαμε λιγότερα κείμενα σε σχέση με τα προηγούμενα χρόνια, είναι η πρώτη φορά που για όλα τα άλμπουμ , τα οποία ξεχωρίσαμε, γράφτηκαν δισκοκριτικές, απόδειξη της προσπάθειας να ξοδεύουμε με πιο εύστοχο τρόπο τον χρόνο που διαθέτουμε για να έχει το ats συνεχή ροή κειμένων και φέτος.
Για αυτούς τους άσχετους λόγους, που πιθανόν να μην είναι και τόσο άσχετοι, μιας και η μουσική παραμένει το σάουντακ της ζωής μας και όλα συνδέονται με ένα μαγικό τρόπο, επιλέξαμε φέτος να μαζέψουμε σε μια μόνο λίστα τους δίσκους εκείνους, που όχι μόνο μονοπώλησαν τις ακροάσεις μας, αλλά κυρίως, αν και όχι αποκλειστικά, έφεραν το στοιχείο του νεωτερισμού, της πρωτοπορίας και της αίσθησης που δίνει μια ευχάριστη έκπληξη. Δεν υπάρχει μια αυστηρή απαρίθμηση από το 1 μέχρι το 20, καθώς η αξιολόγηση με έναν τέτοιον τρόπο δεν έχει σημασία τελικά, αλλά ομαδοποίηση ανά πεντάδες, που λειτουργούν, θεωρούμε, ως ένας εύκολος τρόπος να διαχωριστούν τα αριστουργήματα, από τους καλούς δίσκους κ.ο.κ.
Συνολικά, το 2019 μας αφήνει μια θετική γεύση και νιώθουμε μια βεβαιότητα, παρόλες τις αντίξοες και μουντές κοινωνικές συνθήκες που μας περιβάλλουν, ότι το νέο έτος θα είναι ακόμη πιο γεμάτο με μουσικές συγκινήσεις. Για όλα τα παραπάνω, θα θέλαμε να ευχαριστήσουμε όσους-ες μας βοήθησαν να βρούμε ένα νόημα σε αυτό που κάνουμε εδώ, το νόημα της γόνιμης επαφής και επικοινωνίας. Όλα αυτά τα άτομα που μας έστειλαν τις μουσικές τους, που μας προμήθευσαν προσκλήσεις, που μας έγραψαν σχόλια και κυρίως όλα εκείν@ που μας διαβάζουν σε σταθερή, ή μη, βάση είναι ο λόγος που η όρεξη μας παραμένει ακόρεστη για μουσικές αναζητήσεις. Τα καλύτερα, λοιπόν, όντως έρχονται!
2019: the maturity year!
There are two reasons to name the recent year as such. The first one, the basic reason this text is actually written, has to do with twenty exceptional records released this year, on which the artists, that we have been following, showed incredible maturity. The first five ones are undoubtedly the best and most meaningful records these certain artists have produced, but this fact also stands for the remaining artists and even artists that didn’t make it into the following list.
The second reason has to do with our group’s trajectory of this year. After changes in composition that led to an apparent shrinkage the group’s targeting has changed. Questioning the way and the time we spend listening to music, we were forced to look at ats differently and motivated to start a modernization process. Our texts are already shorter and focused mainly on creations that have something new to offer to our ears, as well as to others.
It is not by luck that through this year, the year we produced fewer texts than ever, we wrote critic on every record we distinguished; this is proof of our attempt to spend aptly the time we have to constantly supply ats with new material.
For the forementioned reasons, that may sound irrelevant to you, or maybe not, as music is the soundtrack of our lives and everything is somehow related, we chose to include in just one list all these records that this year monopolized our hearings and basically, but not exclusively, brought an element of modernism and innovation, the feeling of a pleasant surprise. Our list is not developed by a twenty records countdown, as this way of evaluating music has not much to say after all, but by groups of five, which we feel that they serve better as an easy way to separate the music jewels from the just good ones and so on.
In general 2019 is leaving us with a positive feeling and we are sure that despite the adverse and dim social circumstances the new year we will be be even more moved by music. For all these we would like to thank everyone who helped us find a meaning of what we do here, the meaning of fruitful contact and communication. All the people who send their music to us, gave us invitations to concerts, wrote comments and mainly all the people who read ats on a steady or unsteady basis are the reason our appetite for music quests is and remains insatiable. The best are soon to come, indeed!
