Η άφιξη σηματοδοτεί ένα ταξίδι ή μια πορεία που λήγει και καταλήγει σε έναν ερχομό, παραπέμποντας σχεδόν αυτόματα σε μια εκκίνηση νέων ή επαναπροσδιορισμένων πραγμάτων, ιδωμένων μέσα από διαφορετικό πρίσμα και οπτική. H άφιξη – Arrival, 4^ο album των Fire! Orchestra, είναι από εκείνες τις δημιουργίες που απολαμβάνεις με κάθε κύτταρο της ύπαρξής σου. Η μείωση των μελών της ορχήστρας -από 28 σε 14- σε πλήρη συνεργασία με τα μέλη των Fire! Gustafsson, Berthling και Werliin, καμία έκπτωση δεν επέφερε στο μουσικό τους αποτέλεσμα. Μιλάμε, για μια μελωδικότατη και ιδιαίτερη έκφανση της jazz μουσικής, με έντονους πειραματισμούς και αυτοσχεδιασμούς που τοποθετούνται με απόλυτη συνοχή και ακρίβεια σε κάθε τραγούδι, άλλοτε στην έναρξη κι άλλοτε στο κλείσιμο τους.

Στο album αυτό αναδεικνύονται και κυριαρχούν οι δύο φωνές που ακούγονται σαν μία, των Mariam Wallentin και Sofia Jernberg, διαφορετικές μα αλληλοσυμπληρούμενες. Η μία έντονη και πιο άμεση, η άλλη τοποθετεί τη φωνή της σε ψηλότερες νότες. Προσιτές κι απρόσιτες, ευαίσθητες και δυναμικές, ταυτόχρονα. Δεν μπορείς να φανταστείς τη μία χωρίς την άλλη και η αρμονική συνύπαρξη των δύο κυριών απογειώνει το αποτέλεσμα, μετουσιώνοντάς το σε κάτι μαγικό.

Το βιολί που καταλαμβάνει την εισαγωγή του “(I am a) Horizon” το μπάσο και το σαξόφωνο με το πιάνο που ακολουθεί, ανακατεύει την jazz με την blues αισθητική. Ωστόσο, δεν γίνεται να μην σταθεί κανείς στις δύο διασκευές: στο “Blue Crystal Fire” του Robbie Basho που- προσωπικά- αποτελεί την κορυφαία στιγμή του άλμπουμ και του “At Last I’m Free” των Chic που αποτελεί το κλείσιμο του άλμπουμ αφήνοντας έναν απόηχο απελευθέρωσης και ελπίδας σε όποι@ το ακούσει.

Arrival signifies a journey or a path that ends to a coming by, almost automatically referring to a start of new or redefined things, seen through a different prism and point of view. Arrival, Fire!Orchestra’s 4th album, is one of those creations that you enjoy with every cell of your being. The reduction of the members of the Orchestra – from 28 to 14 – in full cooperation with the members of Fire! Gustafsson, Berthling and Werliin, has made no discount to their musical result. We are talking about a melodious and particular expression of jazz music, with intense experiments and improvisations that are placed with absolute consistency and accuracy in each song, sometimes in the beginning and sometimes in their closure.

In this album the two voices sound like one, Mariam Wallentin and Sofia Jernberg, are different but also complementary. The one more intense and direct, the other puts her voice to higher notes. They are affordable and inaccessible, sensitive and dynamic, at the same time. You cannot imagine one without the other and the harmonious coexistence of the two ladies takes off the result, denouncing it to something magical.

The violin that occupies the introduction of “(I am a) Horizon,” the bass and the saxophone with the piano that follows, blends jazz with blues aesthetics. However, you cannot pass- by the two cover songs: Robbie Basho’s “Blue Crystal Fire,” which is – personally – the top moment of the album and “At Last I’m Free” by Chic, which is closing the album by leaving an echo of liberation and hope to whoever is listening to it.
