Snowdrops – Manta Ray Original Soundtrack (gizeh records)

Τι κάνει μια ταινία σπουδαία; Πολλά, σίγουρα, αλλά το ένα από δαύτα είναι, σαφώς η μουσική της. Απόδειξη αυτού αποτελεί το γεγονός ότι δεν υπάρχει ποιοτική ταινία η οποία να μη διαθέτει ποιοτικό soundtrack. Αυτός ο κανόνας διέπει και τις σινεδουλειές που αναλαμβάνει η Christine Ott. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, σε αυτήν εδώ που έφερε εις πέρας για την περσινή πολυβραβευμένη ταϊλανδέζικη ταινία Manta Ray, προβάλλει μια μουσική δύναμη που όσο χρειάζεται τις εικόνες τις οποίες βάλθηκε να δέσει, άλλο τόσο κινείται και αυτόνομα! Σε μερικές συνθέσεις νομίζεις ότι αν κλείσεις τα μάτια θα δεις μέρη της ταινίας, σε άλλες ακούς ξεκάθαρα ψήγματα του μουσικού της σύμπαντος που δημιουργεί παρέα με τον ομότεχνο Mathieu Gabry. Όλα αυτά ανάκατα, αλλά και σε μια ροή θα έλεγα δραματουργική, δίνοντας ένα επιπλέον κίνητρο, για να δούμε τη συγκεκριμένη ταινία!

Dag Rosenqvist – Blood Transmision (hidden vibes)

Συνήθως παίρνει κάποια ώρα για να μπεις στην ατμόσφαιρα ενός άλμπουμ, αλλά εδώ, από τους πρώτους ήχους, η όποια αργοπορία στην κατανόηση του τι έχουμε να αντιμετωπίσουμε, καταρρέει αμέσως! Μια μελαγχολία και μια λεπτότητα διαπερνά κάθε στιγμή του νέου άλμπουμ του Σουηδού Dag Rosenqvist. Οι εντάσεις, είτε ως σκιές, είτε ως δέσμες φωτός, είναι πανταχού παρούσες για να προσδώσουν την αμεσότητα που χαρακτηρίζει όλο το υλικό εδώ. Χωρίς στίχους, χωρίς φωνές, με ένα ρυθμό ευθύ στις συνθέσεις που είναι χρονικά οι μεγαλύτερες, το Blood Transmission είναι ένας δίσκος – έκπληξη σε ένα χώρο και μια εποχή που οι εκπλήξεις φθίνουν ραγδαία!

Tegh – Unusual Path (midira)

Σαν μια σπουδή στη δύναμη της μουσικής και τη μουσικότητα της δύναμης, το νέο εικοσάλεπτο ομώνυμο κομμάτι του Ιρανού Tegh ορθώνεται, όπως τα ρήγματα των κορυφογραμμών στην εικόνα του εξωφύλλου. Μέσα σε ένα ακίνητο θαρρείς ηχητικό περιβάλλον συγχρωτίζονται στοιχεία που, ενώ τείνουν να ακολουθήσουν τη δική τους πορεία, εντούτοις συγκολλούνται σε ένα μασίφ σώμα. Ενδιαφέρον, επίσης, έχει το γεγονός ότι με τα δύο remix στη 2η πλευρά του βινυλίου αναδεικνύεται η κοινή μουσική αντίληψη που έχουν οι τρεις αυτοί μουσικοί. Με τον Siavash Amini να κινείται σε ελαφρώς πιο εγκεφαλικά πεδία και τον ημεδαπό Zenjungle να εμπλουτίζει αριστουργηματικά τη βάση, κυρίως με το σαξόφωνο του, έχουμε -κατά μια έννοια- τρία μέρη ενός ολοκληρωμένου έργου και μιας συντονισμένης ηχητικής επίθεσης που μπορεί να μην είναι για κάθε ώρα της ημέρας, αλλά σίγουρα αποτελεί μια ολοκληρωμένη μελέτη και ένα σαφές ερώτημα πάνω στο αύριο της σύγχρονης πειραματικής μουσικής.

What makes a movie great? Many things, of course, but one of them is, clearly, its music. Proof of this is the fact that there is no quality film that does not have a quality soundtrack. This rule also governs the cinematographic works assumed by Christine Ott. More specifically, in this one that she has done for last year’s award-winning Thai film, “Manta Ray”, she puts forward a musical power connecting the images with the music, but also moving independently! In some compositions you think that if you close your eyes, you will see parts of the film, in other clear-cut nuggets of her music universe that creates together with Mathieu Gabry. All this pell-mell, but also in a stream I would say dramatic, giving an extra motivation to see this particular movie!

Dag Roseqvist – Blood Transmision (hidden vibes)

It usually takes some time to get into an album’ s atmosphere, but here, with the first sounds, any delays in understanding what we have to deal with, will collapse immediately! A melancholy and subtlety permeates every moment of the Swedish Dag Roseqvist’s new album. Tensions, either as shadows or as light beams, are omnipresent to impart the directness that characterizes all the material here. Without lyrics, no voices, with a straight rhythm on the most time-consuming compositions, Blood Transmission is a surprising record in a genre and a time when surprises are falling rapidly!

Tegh – Unusual Path (midira)

As a study of the power of music and the musicality of the power, the Iranian Tegh’s new twenty-minute homonymous piece stands up like the crest of the ridges in the picture of the cover. Inside a property there is a sound environment that combines elements that, while they tend to follow their own course, are nevertheless bonded to a massive body. Also interesting is the fact that the two remixes on the 2nd side of the vinyl show the common music perception of these three musicians. With Siavash Amini moving in slightly more brain fields, and Zenjungle masterfully enriching the base, mainly with his saxophone, we have – in a sense – three parts of a complete project and a coordinated sonic attack that may not be appropriate for each moment of the day, but it is definitely a complete study and a clear question on the tomorrow of modern experimental music.
