Δεν συνοδεύονται όλα τα ταξίδια από συναισθήματα χαράς και προσμονής για την πολυπόθητη άφιξη στον – όποιον – προορισμό. Υπάρχουν και προορισμοί σκοτεινοί, άγνωστοι και ανεξερεύνητοι. Ένα τέτοιο ταξίδι είναι και το ταξίδι στην άβυσσο, “Mise En Abyme”, όπως το αποκαλούν οι Γάλλοι. Τη φράση αυτή χρησιμοποίησαν οι 9T Antiope ως τίτλο στο τελευταίο τραγούδι του full length album Grimace. Οι δύο Ιρανοί, δημιούργησαν το νέο τους άλμπουμ περιγράφοντας ένα 25λεπτο ταξίδι στην άβυσσο του εαυτού, στα πιο σκοτεινά εσωτερικά σημεία, την ύπαρξη των οποίων αγνοεί το ίδιο το υποκείμενο.

Πρόκειται για μια, σχεδόν, κινηματογραφική εξιστόρηση της πτώσης στην άβυσσο. Στις μελωδίες ακούς τη φύση και τα στοιχεία της, ενώ οι στίχοι εναρμονίζονται και «πατούν» πάνω σε αυτές. Στο “Αn End Οn Itself” είναι σαν να ακούς τη θάλασσα και τα πλάσματα εντός και γύρω της. Μια μαγεία και μια νοσταλγία επικρατεί κατά την ακρόαση του άλμπουμ. Και η μαγεία αυτή αναδύεται με την αιθέρια και συνάμα δυναμικά εύθραυστη φωνή της στιχουργού Sara Bigdeli Shamloo. Η μαγεία της πτώσης στο “Down The Rabbit Hole” ολοκληρώνεται. Κι εκεί τα πάντα σταματούν και μένει μόνο αυτή η εκκωφαντική σιωπή.

Some journeys are accompanied by feelings of joy and anticipation for the long-awaited arrival at any destination. There are also journeys to dark, unknown, and unexplored destinations. This is the journey to the abyss, “Mise En Abyme”, as the French call it. This phrase was used by 9T Antiope as the title track on their latest full length album Grimace. The two Iranians created their new album, describing a 25-minute journey into the abyss of the self, into the darkest interior spaces, the existence of which the human itself ignores.

This is an almost cinematic account of the fall into the abyss. In these melodies you can listen to the nature and its elements, while the lyrics are in full harmony with the sounds. In “An End On Itself” it’s like listening to the sea and the creatures inside and around her. A magic and nostalgia prevail while listening to the album. And that magic emerges with the ethereal and -at the same time- dynamically fragile voice of lyricist Sara Bigdeli Shamloo. The magic of falling into “Down The Rabbit Hole” is fulfilled. And there is where everything stops and only this deafening silence remains.
