Ο παραγωγικός συλλογισμός, ως τρόπος ανάπτυξης της σκέψης, ξεκινά από μια γενική ή και αφηρημένη έννοια με δεδομένη ισχύ, για να καταλήξει σε κάτι πιο ειδικό ή διευκρινιστικό. Ο επαγωγικός τρόπος κινείται ακριβώς αντίθετα, εκκινώντας από το μερικό με στόχο την αναγωγή της σκέψης σε γενικό συμπέρασμα. Αναλόγως την περίπτωση, επομένως, κατευθύνεις τη σκέψη σου επαγωγικά ή παραγωγικά. Κάπως έτσι, οι OHHMS κατέληξαν στον τίτλο του 4ου full length studio album Exist, αντί της αρχικής τους επιλογής Animal Rights, θέτοντας ως στίγμα της δουλειάς τους τη γενικότερη έννοια της ύπαρξης αντί της ειδικής που περιορίζεται σε συγκεκριμένη κατηγορία, στα δικαιώματα των ζώων, στην προκειμένη περίπτωση.

Η ύπαρξη, η ίδια η ζωή είναι η γενικότερη έννοια στην οποία συμπεριλαμβάνεται η μερική έννοια που αφορά στην κατοχύρωση των δικαιωμάτων των ζώων, με στόχο την άρση της εκμετάλλευσής τους και την τελική διαφύλαξη της ελευθερίας και διαβίωσης στο φυσικό τους περιβάλλον. Ένα ξεκάθαρο μήνυμα, άμεσα προβεβλημένο ήδη από το εξώφυλλο του δίσκου με τον πίθηκο-πειραματόζωο πίσω από τα κάγκελα, εικόνα που σου προκαλεί εκτός από σφίξιμο στο στομάχι, πολλές σκέψεις και συνειρμούς. Εξάλλου, αυτό το βλέμμα του ζώου που πονά και (συν)θλίβεται μέσα από τα πειράματα που υφίσταται στον βωμό της προόδου και της ανάπτυξης είναι ξεκάθαρη έκκληση για ζωή και ελευθερία.

Σύμφωνα με τον frontman των OHHMS Paul Waller, σκοπός του album είναι η αφύπνιση και η ενημέρωση του κόσμου, χωρίς όμως αυτή η διαδικασία να πάρει τη μορφή του κηρύγματος, κάτι που και ο ίδιος, άλλωστε, απεχθάνεται. Μέσα από ήχους progressive-post metal και πρόσμειξη στοιχείων doom, sludge, ακόμα και παραδοσιακού rock, εκλύεται ο θυμός, η αγανάκτηση από την εκμετάλλευση των ζώων. Αυτό διαφαίνεται με το 23λεπτο εναρκτήριο “Subjects”, με το κυρίαρχο, επαναλαμβανόμενο, βαθύ ουρλιαχτό του frontman “…murderer…” και τις εναλλαγές ανάμεσα στα δυναμικά και μελωδικά μέρη του τραγουδιού. Η συνέχεια κινείται στις ίδιες νόρμες με το “Shamples”, όπου οι δημιουργοί στηλιτεύουν τον έκδηλο ελιτισμό ορισμένων που στο όνομα της προστασίας των ζώων συμπεριφέρονται αλαζονικά προς τους ανθρώπους. Τραγούδια γεμάτα απόγνωση και οργή για την εκμετάλλευση των ζώων, με το πιο μελωδικό “Calves” να είναι σαν να μας απευθύνονται τα ίδια λέγοντας “…don’ t take my blood from me”.

Οι ίδιοι οι δημιουργοί παρουσιάζουν τη νέα τους δουλειά ως την καλύτερη ως τώρα. Η θεματική που διαπνέει τη συγκεκριμένη δουλειά των OHHMS, μέσα από τους σκληρούς ήχους και τα ιδιαίτερα νοήματα, θέλει να περάσει ένα ξεκάθαρο μήνυμα της παύσης της εκμετάλλευσης και της κυριαρχίας του ανθρώπου πάνω στα ζώα. Κάποια στιγμή, εξάλλου, η φύση εκδικείται…

Productive reasoning, as a way of developing thought, begins with a general or abstract concept with a given force, to conclude to the specific or clarifying reasoning. The inductive way moves exactly to the opposite direction, starting from the partial aiming at the deduction of thinking to general conclusions. Depending on the case, therefore, you direct your thinking inductively or productively. Somehow, OHHMS ended up giving their 4th full length studio album the tile Exist, instead of “Animal Rights” that was their original choice, highlighting the general concept of being instead of the specific – limited to a particular category, animal rights in this case.

Life itself is the general concept, including the partial concept of animal rights, aiming to remove their exploitation and ultimately entrenching freedom and living in their natural habitat. A clear message, which is immediately visible from the cover of the album that depicts a monkey – lab animal behind the bars, a picture that causes you stomach ache and many thoughts. Besides, the look of the animal is full of pain and crushed by the experiments that take place on the altar of progress and development is a clear call for life and freedom.

According to OHHMS’ frontman Paul Waller, the purpose of the album is to awaken and inform the world, but this process does not take the form of preaching, something that he rejects. Through the progressive sounds – post-metal and doom, sludge, even traditional rock sounds, anger or indignation emerges due to the exploitation of animals. This is clarified by the 23-minute “Subjects” with the predominant, repetitive, deep-grin of the frontman “..murderer …” and the alternations between the dynamic and lyrical parts of the song. The sequel goes in the same norms as the “Shamples”, where the creators stigmatize the obvious elitism of people who behave arrogantly towards humans, in the name of animal protection. Songs full of despair and anger for the exploitation of the animals, with the melodic “Calves” where it feels like animals are telling us ” do not take my blood from me ”

The creators present their new work as the best one, so far. The theme that inspires OHHMS’ work through harsh sounds and special meanings is giving a clear message for the termination of exploitation and the dominance of man over animals. At some point nature will take its revenge after all…
